Edit complex custom fields (subfields) after pages launch

Hey team, Q regarding editing options subfields for live custom built pages:
Is there any way to add more options to a single-option subfield in a CF-Type after the pages have been launched?
The only solution I see is creating a new CF-type, adding all the options, create a new CF with the new CF-Type (+ copying over content) and let the dev team re-map it (and delete the old CF afterwards). I hope there’s an easier way (?).

Use case: A client has a single option picker (subfield in a CF type) to decide which click tracking they want to use for a CTA button. Their pages are live already, but now they want to add more options. We can’t just modify the existing CFs as the fields are in use and live.

Thanks for sending in this question!

You can edit and add new options to single-option CFs on the field page (Configuration > Fields). Options only used for display are not “locked in” once pages are live, so you shouldn’t have any issue with updating the CF or its options.

The only thing to consider is if the CF uses any sort of logic on the page (e.g., show this promo banner if this single option field value is X but show that promo banner if the field value is Y), in which case you should notify the Managed Services team and update in coordination with them.
