Notification Banners on Pages

There have been some questions coming in about the alert or notification banners on Pages. Hopefully, this post can provide some additional details — let us know if you have any questions!

Adding a notification banner to your Pages is a great way to grab your customer’s attention and alert them of something important and timely, or share information on brand-wide initiatives.

Adding a notification banner is often done for custom-built pages that were created by Yext’s Managed Services team. If that is the case, you can work with your CSM to add the relevant alert or notification banner to your page.

For clients who manage pages themselves, you can add a banner to your Pages via the Announcement Bar module.

Example Banners
Banners can include things like:

  • Alerts around COVID-19 that may be affecting a business
  • Highlighting a specific promotion or sale
  • Calls to action to prompt people to sign up for a newsletter or download a mobile app, or apply for a job

For Pages built via Managed Services:
Reach out to your Client Success Manager to share the content you would like to include on the banner. Also, confirm what type of pages you would like the banner to appear on (all pages, location pages only, directory/locator pages only, etc.

For Pages that are powered by a single entity, Custom Fields will be added to the Knowledge Graph that will be used to power the alert banner for Pages that are powered by a single entity. If this is the case, you can edit the content of your alert banner by updating the content in these fields in the Knowledge Graph.

For Pages that are not powered by a single entity (e.g., Directories and Locators), site attributes will be used to power the alert banner on Pages. If this is the case, a member of the Yext team will need to update the content of the alert banner on your behalf.

Analytics on Managed Services Alert Banners
Alert Banner CTA will be tagged with a Yext Analytics event of alertbanner_cta and any links within the Alert Banner text will be tagged with alertbanner_link.

To Add a Banner to a Page Builder Page:

  1. Navigate to the relevant Page Builder Template and add the Announcement Bar module.
  2. Enter the relevant hardcoded text, or pull the content dynamically from a field in the Knowledge Graph. You can also click Edit CSS to add any custom CSS styling to the module.
  3. Drag and drop the module so it displays in the correct position on the page.
