Rolling Average Rating versus Average Rating

What’s the difference between Average Ratings and Rolling Average Ratings?

Hi Brian,

Great question. Here’s an outline on the two metrics and how they differ:

  • Rolling Average Rating is a snapshot metric - it provides the average rating all time up to the date at which the metric is being examined. This metric can be used for a client’s own entities, or with Competitive Intelligence, since when we scan for competitive intelligence, we only get back the average rating for a listing at the time of the scan (which is all time up to that point).
  • Average Rating is just the average of a set of reviews. It can be filtered/dimensioned however and it will be dynamically calculated according to the reviews included in the set. It is only available for the entities in your account, not for Competitive Intelligence.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any follow up questions.
