Step 7: Select Competitor Names and Websites

Steps #1-6 were all about configuring Search Tracker specifically for your location. But how well your locations are performing in search is relative; you also need to know how well you are performing relative to your competitors.

To track competitors in Search Tracker, navigate to the other section in the Entity Edit page for the location(s) you are configuring: Settings > Competitors.

This section allows you to specify up to five competitors, which you would like to track in Search Tracker. For each competitor, you must provide a name and website, which Search Tracker will use to match results.

The competitors you specify here will then be tracked in Search Tracker for all the keywords you specified, and their Share of Intelligent Search will be calculated and displayed alongside yours. For more on deciding which competitors to select, see the How do I pick the right competitors? FAQ.

On top of that, Search Tracker will automatically detect and display other local competitors that you may not even have heard of; you can read more about this in the Search Tracker Overview section.
