Hi! Are we able to increase the character limit of a multi line text field to be greater than 4000 characters? For context, a multi-line field in an account has a limit of 4000 and I get an error when I try to increase it, but a different multi-line field in the same account as a character amount of “any” and I am not sure what the different is between the 2 fields.
Thanks for the question – when you first define a custom field of type Multi-Line Text, you are able to set a min and a max character count for the field. Once field that is defined and saved, you are unable to increase the max character count. You are only able to make a saved custom field’s validation more restrictive, not less restrictive.
You could always make a new field with the new desired max character count, but remember that if you do this, you will need to update any Pages or Answers experience that use the old field to look for the new field.
