Configuring Default Queries for Verticals

Am I able to configure a default query for verticals? For example, I’d like it to auto-search something if you click into a vertical tab from an empty search.

For Context, my client voiced the below feedback to me:

“it seems logical to me that I could click on the “locations” tab and it would show all locations, but instead I see a blank screen and a map of a small town in Oklahoma. I have to actually do a search before it is populated. The same goes with all other tabs”

I looked into this and figured it out!

The answer is Yes, for Answers Experiences on version 9.3 and above. However, in general, it is very rare that a standard user would get to a verticals page without conducting a search, so this isn’t necessarily recommended, but Answers does offer the option.

All you need to do is add the “search” attribute to the aapropriate vertical on the front end. Here is an example of a “Providers” vertical whose default search is “Providers near me”.
