Does Analytics Filter Out Duplicate IP Addresses

Hi! Does anyone know if duplicative IP filters are removed when calculating the Answers Sessions and Answers Searches count in the Answers analytics dashboard?

For example, if someone opens up a browser session and searched for ‘loan officers near me’, then closed that browser and repeated the process – do we count that as one session and search or two sessions and searches (assuming the same IP address is registered for both encounters)?

I’m concerned about bots inflating my search analytics and artificially skewing the Answers session/search count.

Hi Coleen,

Our platform counts all searches and sessions regardless of if they come from the same IP address. Currently IP addresses are only used to segment Internal versus External traffic, not for bot filtering. For bot filtering, we rely on the User Agent and check that against a large list of known bots.

Best,
