Filtering Results within the "Links" Vertical

A client reached out to inquire about modifying the results that populate when searching for a specific query within the “Links” vertical. Currently, when the client types in the query, 4 results populate (within the Links vertical); they believe 2 of the results are not relevant and therefore should not populate across that query. Thanks!

Hi Andrew,

For the Links vertical, Answers experiences are creating a connection to a third party search provider. Your client will have to go directly to that third party to make changes in what they surface in their search results. For example, since many Answers experiences use Google Custom Search Engine for their Links vertical, you can review these Google help articles on how to:

  • Remove pages from index: Use Google Webmaster Tools to request removals of URLs from their index
  • Add pages to index: Use the Google Search Console to submit indexing requests
  • Choosing sites to include or exclude: Customize the Google Custom Search Engine itself on which sites to include or exclude in the search results. We recommend completing the first two suggestions before using this method to clean up the client’s Google presence in general as these results will still appear in a Google search even if they don’t appear in the Answers experience (do a Google search for “site: [www.clientsite.com] [search query]”)
