Hi Team,
What is the best way to rank groups of data within a single vertical?
I have a client that wants branches to rank higher than ATMs > MLOs for any general queries.
For simplicity, the order being: Branch > ATM > MLO.
I’ve heard using sorting is a good solution - assigning each group to a letter (A, B, C) and then sorting them alphabetically (like this post?). I would split out these data types into separate verticals, but obviously am staying within the AFT guidelines here.
Best,
Luc
For further clarification, when I say “general query”, I’m talking cases when someone queries something like “Spring” - or “Spring texas”. In this case, the client would want locations of type “branch” to rank higher than ATM/MLO.
Hi Luc,
Your suggested approach here makes sense! Similar to Sarah’s post, it might also be helpful to first sort by distance, and then by type, so users can get results that are most relevant to them. Without sorting for distance as well, the experience will lose some functionality for location-based searches (“near me” queries).
Best,
Kristy
