Step 4: Use the Site Entity for Shared Components
The Pages in-platform experience currently supports using a site entity for content for the header and footer. Using a site entity allows you to have a consistent header and footer across all page groups in the same site and edit them all in one place. Using an entity in the Knowledge Graph also allows for content localization.
A site entity is automatically created when you create a site using the Get Started flow. To find this entity:
- Navigate to Knowledge Graph and click on Entities.
- Click the Site entity type on the left to filter the entities displayed.
- Click on the relevant entity. The name of the entity should match the name of the site. The entity ID will be “site-” followed by the site ID.
You can use this entity to edit properties on the header and footer components, such as a logo, copyright message, social media handles, and links. To add links to the header and footer, click into the field for that component. You’ll see a list of links, each with a label, link type, and link path. You can add multiple links to the list.
As you make changes to the site entity, you’ll see the changes reflected in the global styles editor and the layout editor for every page group in the site.
