Step 1: Enable Search Tracker for Your Locations

Search Tracker is enabled on a per-entity basis, so that you can control which locations to track. There are two steps to enable Search Tracker on your locations:

  1. Assign a Competitive Intelligence license to each location entity you wish to track
  2. On your locations, set the Search Tracker Enabled field to True

Assign Competitive Intelligence Licenses

You can assign Competitive Intelligence licenses in two ways:

  1. Manually: this is a good option if you have a set of locations that you want to enable Search Tracker on, and you don’t expect this list to change (i.e., you do not expect to add or remove locations)
  2. Automatically: this is a good option if you expect to add or remove entities over time.

Steps for both options are below.

Assign Licenses Manually

For full steps on assigning licenses to a set of entities manually, see the Assign Licenses to Entities help article.

  1. Select your desired locations in the Knowledge Graph. Then, click the More Actions dropdown at the top of the page and select Add Services.

Add services to selected entities

  1. On the Assign Licenses flow, under Product Selection, select Subscriptions and click Continue.

  2. Select the Competitive Intelligence license pack. Click Continue and confirm your choices on the next screen to assign the licenses.

Assign Licenses Automatically

For this method, you’ll create a saved filter specifying the necessary criteria that you want your locations to meet in order to be monitored with Search Tracker. Then, you’ll associate the saved filter with the Competitive Intelligence license pack.

For full steps on using saved filters to assign licenses automatically, see the Automatically Assign Licenses to Entities with a Saved Filter help article.

  1. Define the criteria that you want your locations to meet in order to be monitored on Search Tracker. Start with these recommendations, and include any other criteria that is important to your business or workflow:

    • If you have multiple entity types in your Knowledge Graph (e.g., Locations and Help Articles), ensure that you are only including the relevant location entities. Do this by including a filter criteria for entity type.
    • Ensure you are only including open locations. This could be done by including criteria for fields such as “Open = true” or “Closed = “false” (or whatever distinction you use in the Knowledge Graph to indicate whether a location is open and operating.)
    • If desired, you can create a custom field to indicate whether you want to include a certain entity in Search Tracker. To do this, create a custom Yes/No field with a name like “Live on Search Tracker” and include this field in your saved filter criteria.
  2. Ensure that all your location entities match the criteria you have defined. Then, create a saved filter including those criteria. Any entities matching the criteria you set will automatically be added.

  3. Associate your saved filter with the Competitive Intelligence license pack. Navigate to Account Settings > License Packs. Click Assign next to the Competitive Intelligence license pack and select your saved filter from the dropdown menu.

Assign your saved filter to the Competitive Intelligence license pack

  1. Any locations in the assigned saved filter will automatically be launched on Search Tracker as soon as they meet the criteria of your saved filter. Additionally, any locations that no longer meet your saved filter criteria will have their Search Tracker licenses removed.

Set “Search Tracker Enabled” Field

Your locations with Competitive Intelligence licenses will now have the Search Tracker field section available in the Knowledge Graph. Set the Search Tracker Enabled field to Yes for these locations.

  1. Select the same set of entities you just assigned Competitive Intelligence licenses to. Bulk edit these entities by clicking More Actions > Edit.

  2. Locate the Search Tracker field section (under Settings on the left sidebar.) Set the Search Tracker Enabled field to Yes and save.
