    Search Tracker Frequency

This field determines how often Search Tracker will pull in search data for your selected locations. Choose from:

    • Weekly (every seven days)
    • Monthly (every four weeks)
    • Quarterly (every 12 weeks)

After setting the Search Tracker Frequency, Search Tracker will pick a random day of the week to begin pulling search data. This is randomized so Yext can balance how many scans are run per day across all accounts. If you want to specify a day of the week for Searh Tracker to run, reach out to Yext Support.

    Keywords

Set the keywords you want to track for your locations in the Location Keywords and Custom Keywords fields. For best practices on adding keywords, see Which custom keywords should I track? in the FAQ section of this guide.

    Location Keywords

Location keywords are built-in options pertaining to each location. Select from the following:

    • Name
    • Primary Category
    • Secondary Category

The Primary Category and Secondary Category options will use the Google category options for your locations.

    Custom Keywords

You can add up to five custom keywords to include in Search Tracker data. Keywords are limited to 100 characters each.

    Add location and custom keywords

    Query Templates

Query templates pair the keywords for your location with common localized search patterns (for example, “near me”, “in Seattle”, “Seattle WA”, etc).

Select the query templates you’d like to include in Search Tracker data.

    Query template options

For example, if you select Keyword City as a query template, one of your keywords is “burger restaurant”, and the entity’s City field is set to San Francisco, Search Tracker will include instances of searches for “burger restaurant San Francisco.”

    Alternate Names

Use this field to enter up to three alternate names that are used for your location. Any search results that are returned with one of those alternative names will be considered a match with your location.

There’s no need to add an alternate name for queries that use all or part of your location’s name as it appears in the Name field on the entity. For example, “Galaxy Grill” does not need to enter “Galaxy” as an alternate name, but they may decide to enter the branded name for their pickup option (“Galaxy To-Go”).

    Alternate Websites

Similarly to the Alternate Names field, use the Alternate Websites field to list up to three alternate web domains that you use for your business (besides the one listed in the Website URL field for the entity).

This field should be used for any domains that are separate from your main website, including subdomains. For example, if Galaxy Grill’s main website URL is www.galaxygrill.com, they may choose to list the subdomain order.galaxygrill.com as an alternate website. There’s no need to list individual pages under your main website domain as alternate websites (e.g.,www.galaxygrill.com/nyc).
