Scheduled Updates | Yext Hitchhikers Platform
What You’ll Learn
In this section, you will learn:
- What scheduled updates are and why they’re useful
- How to schedule an update
Overview
You can schedule updates to a single entity or group of entities for a specific date and time in the future. Scheduled updates can help you handle content changes like:
- Seasonal and holiday updates, like hours or product promotions
- New locations and products
- Relocations
- Closed locations
- Rebrands
In this unit, you’ll learn where to view scheduled updates on entities and how to create scheduled updates.
View Scheduled Updates
You can see scheduled updates in Entity Edit. Find the Scheduled Updates module on the right side of the screen.
The scheduled updates module lists all of the updates currently scheduled for the entity. Click on one of the dates to see what the whole entity will look like as of that scheduled update, and click Present to return to the current version of the entity.
Create a Scheduled Update
After choosing an entity (or a set of entities using bulk edit ), click Add an Update in the scheduled updates module.
Then, choose the date, time, and timezone when you want your update to occur.
The Entity Edit view will reload. Make your changes to fields and click Schedule Update when finished.
Finally, choose whether you want to revert your scheduled changes back to the previous values at a future date. This is a good option for temporary edits, like seasonal content or short-term product promotions.
Entity templates
For a quicker way to schedule changes to many fields at once, you can also use scheduled updates to apply an entity template at a future date.
