Background

Turtlehead Tacos has many regions, each run by independent business units with some oversight at the corporate level. They want employees of each business unit to be able to interact with their entities in Yext but not be able to view or edit the entities in other regions.

To do this, you need to create a folder for each region. Because user access can be allocated based on folder, Turtlehead is able to ensure the right regional employees can view and edit their region’s entities without the risk of accidentally impacting any others. This also allows the corporate team the flexibility to view analytics reporting both holistically and on a per region basis.

Additionally, the team wants to A/B test some new assets for a digital marketing campaign. This test will take place only during the month of November, after which they’ll choose a winning campaign and apply those assets to all entities in their Yext account. They have randomly sorted entities into three test groups that span across regions and need a way to easily track how the three different test groups perform. Your job is to apply a unique label to each entity group so that you can start the test.

Your Challenge

  1. Navigate to Content > Configuration > Folders.

    • Click on Create Initial Structure.
    • Click on Structure Type to update from Universal Folder Structure (Default) to Entity Type Specific Folder Structure.
    • Click the Structure section to edit. Add a subfolder level under Restaurant and select “Region” to folder by state/region field.
    • Click Preview to make sure that your folder structure looks right.
    • Click Reorganize Folders, then click Reorganize Folders again to confirm the change.
    • Wait for the folders update progress bar to complete.
    • Return to Content to confirm the folders look good - QA is important!
  2. Create and then randomly assign the Restaurant entities with one of the following 3 labels:

    1. Test Group 1
    2. Test Group 2
    3. Test Group 3

Each label should have 15-20 restaurants. No restaurant should have more than one label. You want to make sure these are evenly distributed for the purpose of your A/B testing.

Note: You now know how to edit entities in many ways. It’s up to you how you want to assign these labels. For example, you could bulk edit small groups at a time. Or, you could export the Entity Ids and use Entity Upload to add labels. Dealer’s choice! Use the Feedback Feature on the bottom right of the screen to tell us how you decided to assign labels - we’d love to hear!
