How Licenses Work on Entities for Listings | Yext Hitchhikers Platform
What You’ll Learn
In this section, you will learn:
- What licenses are on entities
- Why licenses are important for launching Listings
What are Licenses?
So far, we’ve covered how Yext integrates with publishers, and how Yext syncs with individual listings on each publisher. Now, you’ll learn about how Yext identifies which entities in Content are eligible to sync with Listings.
Entities in Content can be used for many different purposes in Yext. For example, a restaurant franchise might want to do these things with their entities:
- Launch Listings for Restaurant entities
- Build an FAQ section on their website, using their FAQ entities and Yext Pages
- Post to social media for their restaurant locations using Yext Social
Licenses are how Yext determines which services (i.e., Listings, Reviews, Social, Pages) should apply to certain entities.
How Licenses Work
There are different types of licenses for different Yext services: for example, Pages and Reviews have their own licenses. The Listings product also has its own type of license. Depending on the type of license you’re using, you may also see them referred to as subscriptions or feature packs.
Licenses are assigned to entities in Content. Assigning a license to an entity tells Yext to use that entity for whatever service the license specifies.
You can see if any licenses are assigned to an entity by viewing that entity in Content:
Licenses and launching on Listings
As part of the setup process for going live with Listings in Yext, you’ll need to make sure all the entities you want to launch have a Listings subscription license assigned.
The types and number of licenses you have available to assign to your entities vary based on your Yext subscription. To learn about which licenses you have in your Yext account, contact your Account Manager.
