Hi Team,
Can you help me with blacklisting a certain popular query from my Answers experience? I need to blacklist two terms below from the popular queries.
I added the following to the search config but it hasn’t made any difference, let me know what I’ve done wrong. Also, any plans to add this to the UI to make it easier to manage? Thanks, I’ve included a screenshot of my config below as well.
"additionalSearchablePlaces": [],
"querySuggestions": {
"popularQueriesBlacklistedTerms": [
{
"term": "mybroadbandthreecouk bb mobilebroadbanddonglehome"
},
{
"term": "mybroadband.brand.co.uk bb mobile_broadband_dongle_home"
}
],
"universalPrompts": [],
"verticalPrompts": {}
}

There is seemingly just a little bit of a delay as this has now resolved itself! Thanks.

Hi Scott,
That’s great. Glad it has been resolved. Generally, you’ll need to wait for the site to be re-indexed before blacklisting the term will take place, but reindexing happens on a nightly basis.
Reach out if you have any other questions.
Best,
Alyssa

Hi Alyssa,
Two follow-up questions to this workflow:
- Does blacklisting popular search terms also apply to misspellings within the drop-down suggestions?
- Do we just have to wait for this term to be re-indexed on prod? Is there a way to confirm in staging before deploying?
Thanks for your help!
Hi @Sean_Coleman
Great questions! Yes, I think your approach makes sense, were you able to resolve the issue for #1?
For your second question, popular queries are only considered in Production so you’re correct that you would wait for the site to be re-indexed in Prod.
Let us know if you have any other questions!
Best,
Alyssa
Hello Community.
I added yesterday a “popularQueriesBlacklistedTerms” but it still appers today.
My set up.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.
