Hi HH Community,
Is there a way for all Universal searches to have a filter automatically applied? For example, all universal searches to only search across entities in a specific Folder in the Knowledge Graph. All subsequent Verticals can then have filters applied as normal.
I was thinking this could be applied via the componentSettings property in the Index.json config file but I wasn’t too sure. Any ideas on this?
Thanks
Sam
Hi Sam,
Thanks for your post. This is not currently possible today but definitely an interesting idea! You can today pin a set of results to Universal search which is a new Spring 21 feature. See here for more information: Default Initial Search on Universal Search
We’ll look into this idea however. Can you elaborate on the use case for this?
Thanks!
Alyssa
Hi Alyssa,
I’m just thinking of scenarios where an organisation may be using Knowledge Graph folders to store a mix of entities by category.
For example Folder A for Category A and Folder B for Category B entities.
That organisation may perhaps need to deploy an answers search bar in a particular section of the website, (let’s say Section A and another search bar in Section B).
Each deployment of the search bar, built of the same experience/knowledge graph, can be filtered so Section A only references Category A entities (from Folder A) and so on.
I perhaps think a solution for this could be using Query Rules, where the searches could be aligned to the referring URL, i.e. my-website.com/section-a/ would influence the results? Although, a Universal Filter ID on the JS Search Bar script could be a nice addition. Any thoughts to this?
Thanks again for the reponse,
Sam
