Do featured snippets require question words in query to trigger?

Hi all,

I’ve taken a look around Hitchhikers and the community, but wasn’t able to find a clear answer to the following: Does a query need certain question/interrogative words to trigger a featured snippet?

For example, document search/direct answers are enabled in an experience and featured snippets are triggered for queries such as “what does fixed wireless internet mean”.

However, can featured snippets surface for queries such as “4g vs 5g” or queries without interrogative words (who, what, why, etc.)? Is this logic more dependent on the data in the Knowledge graph matching context/phrases in the unstructured data?

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Tiana! No, sentence structure/phrasing a query as a question is not necessary in order to get a featured snippet in the response. Featured snippets used to work that way in the past, but now it is just dependent on the information in the query matching Knowledge Graph data.
