Hi! Looking to see if it’s possible to have links within a direct answer featured snippet.
As an example, the FAQ entity in the KG contains a link in the answers field that populates under the accordian fold; however, when returned in the direct answer feature snippet, the link does not appear. The API call says it’s pulling from s_snippet instead of the answers field as well.
This is a bit of a functionality question, and there seem to be multiple accounts impacted by this. Please let me know if this is possible!
Hi Madeline,
The s_snippet
field you see in the API request is what the algorithm is predicting and pulling as the answer to the search query. If there is rich text enabled on the field it’s pulling from, there may be rich text and/or plain text suggestions for the featured snippet based on the algorithm’s prediction.
You can go to the Featured Snippet training screen and approve the one you want to show. Note that it is currently not possible to modify featured snippets that have rich text.
In the screenshot below, you’ll notice that there are featured snippet suggestions with rich text, including links, in them. The first and last featured snippet are pulling from the same Knowledge Graph entity, however the first one is in plain text and the last one has rich text. If I want the rich text suggestion to show in this case, I would approve it for this query.
Hi Kristy! Thank you for the help!! When I go into the featured snippet training section. Both sections for the FAQ in question do not contain the rich text links. Is there another way to approve the use of rich text in the answers?
We currently don’t support editing (and adding new) featured snippets for rich text answers.
However, this feature is currently under development. You can upvote and comment on this idea:
If you’re not seeing any rich text featured snippets for FAQs in the experience training section, I would also double check that you have Document Search enabled on the field in the backend and a featured snippet card enabled for the vertical on the frontend.
