Types of Suppressions (Listings Track - Module 9 - Unit 2)

What is the difference between “Redirect” and “Search Page”? Is this just about what different publishers call the same thing or is there really a difference?

Hi Tanya,

They are different behaviors.

“Redirects” basically just redirect a user to the correct (non-suppressed listing), whereas “Search Page” drops users on a search results page for similar listings to the one the suppressed page they are trying to access.

More details on each below (in case it’s helpful):

For Redirects when a user tries to access the URL of the suppressed listing, the browser will automatically redirect them to the correct listing. Meaning, they will ultimately land on the correct listing even if they click the link to the suppressed page.

For Search Page when a user tries to access the URL of the suppressed listing, they are redirected to a search for related listings on the publisher site. Meaning, they will not ultimately land on a listing, but they will be dropped in a search results page for related listings.
