Step 1: Create Your Site
Create Your Site
A site represents location pages that you’ll build and manage with the Pages system. Each site is typically associated with its own domain - for example, if your main website is at example.com, you might host your store location pages at locations.example.com. When you first create your site, it will be assigned a temporary placeholder domain so you can preview your pages before connecting your final domain.
To create a site:
- Navigate to Pages > Get Started.
- You will see one starter template. Click the Preview button to see what it looks like in a new tab.
- When you’re ready, click Use This Starter.
- Name your site in a descriptive way, such as “Locations Site.”
- Click Create Site.
Create a Page Group
A page group includes the group of entities to which you want a layout applied, and the layout you’ll use. Layouts provide a template for the structure and design of all pages for the entities in that page group. Each page group can only have one layout, but you can have multiple page groups and create a layout for each segment of entities. For example, you can differentiate between official stores and authorized resellers, by region, or by entity type, such as branch locations vs. ATM locations.
If you want to create multiple page groups under one site and will segment your data by something other than entity type , use saved filters to create these segments. Ensure no entities are included in multiple page groups – each entity will only have one page after all!
Once you create the site above, you’ll be prompted to create a page group:
- Name your page group.
- Select the entity type.
- We currently only support built-in entity types with an address field and are planning to allow for other entity types in the future.

- If the entity type you selected has any saved filters configured, a dropdown will appear for you to Refine Entities. You can choose a saved filter to narrow down entities within the selected type.
- Entities in the filter that don’t match the selected type won’t have a page created.

- Select the locales. If you select multiple
locales
, a page will be created for the entity in each locale.
- Check the Generate Directory checkbox if you would like to create a directory for this page group.
- If you’re unsure whether you want a directory, you can always create one later.
- If you’re unsure whether you want a directory, you can always create one later.
- Check the Generate Locator checkbox if you would like to create a locator for this page group.
- If you’re unsure whether you want a locator, you can always create one later.
- If you’re unsure whether you want a locator, you can always create one later.
- Click Create Page Group.
Once the page group is created, you’ll see a loading screen. You should expect this to take a few minutes to load – your site is deploying in the background.
Once the site finishes deploying, you will see your page group here on the page groups page. If you created a directory, you’ll also see four page groups created by the directory manager, one for each level of the directory. See Step 5: Build a Directory for more information. If you created a locator, you’ll also see a page group for the locator. See Step 6: Build a Locator for more details.
If you want to edit the page group’s name or locales later, from the Page Groups screen, click the ellipsis next to the page group you want to edit, then select Configure Page Group. You can edit the saved filter but not the entity type.
