Step 2: Set up App Listing Details

Your App Listing, which is managed in the Yext Developer Portal, is meant to be the primary and exclusive resource for anyone internally or externally looking to learn about your app. For this reason, we have a set of content requirements to ensure that app listings provide adequate context for all interested parties (customers, Yext employees, etc.).

Short Description

This is a brief one-liner about the app’s functionality. Please note that this is not meant to be a tagline but rather a brief description of your app’s use case. For example, short descriptions like “Enhance your marketing with MegaCorp’s Tools!” are not preferred, while ones like “Power your MegaCorp ad campaigns with targeted location data from Yext.” are preferred. For more examples of short descriptions, check out a few existing listings in the App Directory .

Detailed Description

Your “Detailed Description” is the single point of reference for anyone looking to learn more about your app. We require a few components in the description to make the listing as compelling as possible:

  1. Basic information on your product.
  2. A detailed description of the app’s functionality, especially with respect to Yext data.
  3. A detailed description of what data is being synced.
  4. Step-by-step instructions for installing the app

App Icon

All apps within the Yext App Directory need a simple and memorable icon that attracts attention. The icon must be opaque, square (no rounded edges or borders), and ideally have a non-white background.

Videos

Though not required, we strongly encourage including a video walkthrough in your app listing, including detailed installation instructions. App listings serve as an internal knowledge source for Yext sellers and account managers to help clients learn about and install apps. Correspondingly, we have seen significantly higher adoption among apps that include videos in their listings. We currently support only Vimeo videos.

Photos

We do not require imagery, but like videos, we generally see much higher engagement with apps that include photos in their listing.
