Introduction | Yext Hitchhikers Platform
This guide will walk you through how to build your Search experience in just a few steps. If you love it and want to take it live, we recommend proceeding with the Search Deployment Guide .
Before you get started, get to know your account a little:
Search: Yext Search is a multi-algorithm search engine that sits on top of the Content. Under Search in the navigation, you can view the Overview, which is a powerful way to understand the value that your Search experience is driving to your business, and view Search experiences to dive deeper into each experience and manage your Search configurations. You’ll learn all about this in steps 1 and 4.
Content: This is where you can manage all of the entities and content about your brand that feed into your Search experience. Your account will come with some out-of-the-box entities as a starting point. One of the most important things you can do is keep your content up to date. You’ll learn more about how you can update entities in steps 2 and 3.
Pages: Here, you can manage the frontend of your Search experience. This is where you modify things like styling, result cards and layouts.
These products work together to help you build an amazing search experience – the Search configuration and algorithm help to determine how results are selected and the frontend determines how results are displayed. Both sit on top of the Content.
Now that you’re familiar with the key parts of the platform, we’re going to walk you through how to build out your Search experience. You can follow along with your own brand info, or we’ll provide you with demo data from our fictional (yet beloved) training brand, Turtlehead Tacos.
Along the way we’ll link out to deep-dive trainings on each topic if you want to keep learning.
