Hi,
I have a current customer that recently made an update to their website. When they made the update it broke the site search experience. They rectified the situation and it’s working fine again, but they wanted to know if there were any monitoring solutions notifying people when something like this happened again. Is there a notifications setting that can be set up in the KG or some back-end system that alerts people when Answers disconnects like that? Similar to Listings when FB disconnects/deactivates it alerts the user or allows the user to set up a notification so they can do in and reconnect. Since it was an update made to their website, would that have to come from their CMS provider?
Please advise.
Thanks!
Hi Patrick,
This is an interesting idea and apologies you had this issue. Can you elaborate on what broke? (For example, were there no results appearing? No main searchbar? All queries? All verticals? Was it frontend related or backend related? etc…) I would likely agree with your assessment that if there was no update within the Yext platform then ideally this would stem from the CMS provider but looking forward to understanding more details either way.
Best,
Alyssa
Hi Alyssa,
So the Yext search bar disappeared and defaulted to the CMS search (magnifying glass). When I tried clicking on the default search function (the magnifying glass) it was dead. Nothing happens. I had my TEM look at it and they told me the Answers staging environment was fine, nothing happened to that. It sounds like when my client made the update to the CMS it just disabled the search functionality and disconnected. My guess is it disabled the code somehow.
In being proactive about it, I’m sure they will continue to push updates to the site in the future and we don’t want this to continue happening every time. Is there a way we can set up a notification that alerts people when the Answers environment disconnects like that?
Thanks,
Patrick
