Knowledge Assistant Inquiry

Hi Yext Community,

I’m interested in the Knowledge Assistant and curious how we can go about installing it into our platform to make quick edits to fields like Business Hours or other custom fields.

  1. How can I get that set up?
  2. What fields from the Knowledge Graph can I edit when using the Knowledge Assistant?

The Knowledge Assistant is our conversational UI that sits on top of SMS and Facebook Messenger that allows you to interact with Yext straight from your phone. You can do things like:

  • Update holiday hours
  • Respond to reviews
  • Get analytics
  • Respond to Knowledge Nudges
  • Update data for most fields in the Knowledge Graph

Getting Setup on Knowledge Assistant

To get set up, you’ll need to register on a platform (which as of right now are SMS or Facebook Messenger). You can do this from Account Settings > Personal Settings at the bottom of the page.

From here, you can click to add your Cell Phone (for SMS) or link your Facebook Account (for Facebook Messenger). You can also set things like your platform preference or allowed interactions.

If you want to receive proactive messages from Yext about certain entities, you’ll also need to navigate to each entity and set yourself as the Primary Contact on entity edit in the Knowledge Assistant field section. You can also set this field through bulk upload or any other way you can edit fields.

(Note that if you set yourself or another user as the Primary Contact but they’re not yet registered for Knowledge Assistant, you’ll see a “Not Registered” warning like in the screenshot above.)

Additionally, you can invite other users to register for Knowledge Assistant, either from the users tab or via a bulk upload. You can learn more about how this works in this training unit.

Fields to Edit

You can update many of the fields using Knowledge Assistant. The list of supported fields grows over time, so the best place to reference this is in the Updating Fields unit of the Knowledge Assistant track.

As of now, you can edit the following field types:

  • Photo fields
  • Text fields
  • Yes/No fields
  • Date / time fields
  • Address fields
  • Phone fields
  • Number fields
  • Hours fields

This includes both built-in and custom fields.

To get started, you can say things like:

  • “Update photo”
  • “Change address”
  • “Add description”

And so on….
