This Release we made several Role Management updates to make managing user roles even easier.
Users can now:
- Delete Custom User Roles
- Copy permissions from an existing role when creating a new custom role
- View access permissions for built-in role types
We added the ability for users to delete custom roles in the platform from the Role Management page and Role Edit pages. Also, users can copy permissions from an existing role when creating a new custom role. Lastly, we created a Role View page for viewing permissions on Built-In roles
We added the following functionality:
Deleting Custom User Roles
You can now delete custom user roles in User Management from both the Role Management page and Role Edit pages.
To do this:
- Hover over your name in the top right corner and click Account Settings.
- Select Role Management in the sidebar.
- Click on the drop-down button next to Edit and click Delete Role.
Or, click into the role (either by clicking on the Role Name), or by clicking Edit and then clicking Delete Role from within the Role Edit Page.
Copy Permission from an Existing Role
You can now copy permissions from an existing role when creating a new custom role.
From the Role Management screen, which you click + Add New Role you will see a new Copy Permissions From field in the modal.
From here, you can select any role within your account (both custom and built-in) to copy permissions from. This is a one-time copy of permissions that you can use as a starting point for creating a new custom role. Once you select the role to copy, you can then make any adjustments to customize your new role.
Ability to View access permissions for built-in Role
Now, when you access Role Management, you can click on the built-in roles.
This will allow you to see the permissions that are assigned to that role — giving you more visibility into the access controls of built-in user roles.
Turn on the Winter ‘21: Role Management Updates (early access) account feature to use this feature during the Early Access period.
You can learn more about user management and permissions in the Users training module.
