Answers Analytics is now in Report Builder!

Answers Analytics have been added to the Report Builder. Users can now view Analytics on each of their Experiences for the Last 120 Days to start to get better insights on their business.

Here are some common ways to visualize this data:

Clicks, Sessions and Searches by Day

Get a sense of the volume driven to your Answers experience over time. Answer questions like:

  • Are you getting more traffic on the weekends or weekdays?
  • Do holidays cause a spike or a drop in search traffic?
  • What day of the week is most popular?

Most Popular Search Terms

Better understand what questions your customers asking to answer questions like:

  • What is the most common question my customers ask?
  • How much traffic does that represent?
  • How am I doing converting on those questions?

You can also use these reports to create your own Custom Dashboards!

Answers Analytics currently supports the following Metrics:

Metric Description
Clicks Number of times content has been clicked
Click Through Rate Percentage of Searches with a Click
Searches Number of times a user ran a Search
Searches with Click Number of times a user ran a Search and clicked at least once

Sessions Number of times a Session was started

As well as the following Dimensions and Filters

Hey @Michael_Peralta this is incredible news! I was curious if you have plans to include the metric “Searches without Knowledge Graph Results” and any ETAs on when that might be included in the Report Builder Analytics?

Thanks!

Hey Sam!

We don’t have any plans to support a specific Searches without Knowledge Graph Results as we already support a Searches WITH Knowledge Graph Results metric in Report Builder.

However I think what your question is getting to is how we can show a list of Search Terms with No KG Results.

Currently as a workaround you can create a table view of Search Terms sorted by Searches with Knowledge Graph Results ascending (shown below) which will show the Search Terms with the least amount of Searches with Knowledge Graph Results this will typically be 0.

However we are working on something for our Fall Release that should make this much easier for you and will allow you to see the Most Popular Search Terms with no KG Results.

When that’s available we’ll be sure to update you!

Hi @Michael_Peralta, I noticed that it seems like we can’t filter Conversion Value using the Answers dimensions Configuration Version Label or Traffic Type in Report Builder. We can set a filter using those dimensions, but it has no effect on output.

That said, the Configuration Version Label and Traffic Type (called Traffic Source) dimensions also exist under the Conversion Value tab of the Filter options, and those can filter Conversion Value. See screenshot.

Is there a reason there are two sets of these two dimensions, and why they are not in sync? Thanks!

And to quickly tag on - Search Term is another dimension that exists under both Answers and Conversion Tracking, but this time, I’m blocked from selecting the Answers Search Term dimension when I have conversion value as a metric. Seems like in general, I have to use the Conversion Tracking “version” of these dimensions whenever I’m trying to filter or add dimensions to conversion value.

(Also wondering if the description for the dimension there is incorrect - the term is normalized, not “raw”).

Hi @Michael_Peralta,

One question here on the lookback window for Answers Analytics in report builder - is there any plan to expand that window or date range for data beyond the previous 120 days? Potentially to encompass data from all time like we have for Pages data currently?

If not, would it be possible to add additional messaging to the report builder screen when trying to create a report that uses more than the max date range to alert users that data prior to X date is unavailable?

Thanks!

Sunil

@Sunil_Narasimhan Good question.

In our Spring Release we plan to support Answers data for all time just like Pages so you shouldn’t have this issue for too much longer!

We’ll be sure to let you know when this is available.

Mike
