Google Integration Overview | Yext Hitchhikers Platform

This article provides an overview of the integration between Yext and Google Business Profile, as well as the fields that can be published from Yext Content to Google.

Integration Overview

Yext has a direct integration with Google Business Profile (GBP); a tool available for businesses to manage their information on Google’s services. When you link your Google Business Profile account with Yext, Yext syncs with your Google Business Profile account to manage and update Google Business Profile listings with the information from Yext Content. Once a Google Business Profile listing is verified, Google will then push the information from the Google Business Profile listing to their other services such as Google Search, and Maps. For more information on verification, see How to Verify your Google Business Profile Listing .

Photo Menu Syncing

Add your menus to Yext by creating an Enhanced Content List and Yext will sync the menu photos to your Google listings. Syncing photos from Yext to Google Business Profile (GBP) will append them to existing photos on your GBP listing in the photo gallery. Photos appear in Google when you click See photos.

How does photo syncing work via the integration? Once there is a photo on a menu item in Yext, it will be added to the photo gallery of the Google Business Profile listing and then included as a photo on the menu item.

Limitations

  • Menu photos are limited to the mobile experience and will appear in a carousel section to the right of your business data.
  • Existing menu photos on the listing will be replaced by the photos in the Menu Enhanced Content List.
  • This feature respects your photo gallery content sync policy settings for the location. If you disable photo syncing for the location photo gallery, it will also disable photo syncing for the menu photos. For more information, see Manage Publisher Configurations .
  • We will send the first 80 photos that are on a menu. If one of the photos fails to be uploaded to the Google Business Profile listing because it does not meet Google’s requirements, we will only show the 79 that were valid. Requests with 81 or more photos will be truncated to the first 80 photos.
  • Duplicate photos will be removed automatically.
  • Format: JPG or PNG.
  • Size: Between 10 KB and 5 MB.
  • Recommended resolution: 720 px tall, 720 px wide.
  • Minimum resolution: 250 px tall, 250 px wide.
  • Quality: The photo should be in focus and well lit, and have no significant alterations or excessive use of filters. In other words, the image should represent reality.
