Photo Guidelines for Publishers | Yext Hitchhikers Platform

Below are the size and format guidelines for photos on entities in the Knowledge Graph that will sync to listings on publisher sites.

There are specific guidelines for storing photos on the Business Logo and Photo Gallery fields in the Knowledge Graph, as well as specifications for photo fields on Apple, Facebook, and Google.

Yext Knowledge Graph Photo Guidelines

By default, the Business Logo and Photo Gallery fields in the Knowledge Graph are eligible to sync photos to listings.

Preferred File Formats

• JPG
• JPEG
• PNG

Business Logo Field

• Maximum file size: 5MB
• Maximum dimensions: 400px x 400px

Photo Gallery Field

• Maximum file size: 5MB
• Minimum dimensions: 180px x 180px
  • Although Yext will accept photos with the minimum dimensions, the recommended minimum for many publishers is 250px x 250px.
• Maximum Dimensions: 30,000px x 30,000px
  • Although Yext will accept photos with the maximum dimensions, the recommended maximum for many publishers is 5,000 px x 5,000 px.
• Maximum number of photos: 500
  • Although the maximum number of photos allowed for each entity is 500, photo limits vary by publisher.

Additional specifications for Apple, Facebook, and Google are below.

Apple

Business Cover Photo
Apple business cover photos sync to the Apple Cover Photo field in Yext. A business logo and business cover photo must be uploaded to the business folder in your Apple Business Connect account. Once uploaded, the Apple Cover Photo field in Yext will override the business cover photo for all locations associated with that business folder.

• Aspect ratio: Center crop of 2.5:1 (for Maps display)
• Minimum dimensions: 1,600px x 1,040px
• Maximum dimensions: 4,864px x 4,864px

Location Photos
Apple location photos sync to the Photo Gallery field in Yext.

• Minimum dimensions: 720px x 960px
• Maximum dimensions: 4,864px x 4,864px

Showcase Photos

• No transparency
• Aspect ratio: 1:1
• Minimum dimensions: 492px x 492px
• Maximum Dimensions: 4,864px x 4,864px

Profile Picture

• Maximum file size: 4MB
• Minimum dimensions: 180px x 180px
• Maximum dimensions: 30,000px x 30,000px

Cover Photo

• Maximum file size: 4MB
• Minimum dimensions: 400px x 150px
• Maximum dimensions: 30,000px x 30,000px

Google

Logo

• Recommended file size: 10KB to 5MB 
• Minimum dimensions: 250px x 250px
• Maximum dimensions: 5,000px x 5,000px

Cover Photo
Yext will sync the Google Cover Photo field to the cover photo field on Google Business Profile. However, Google ultimately decides if the uploaded cover photo will be displayed. Google may decide to display a different photo as a cover photo on the listing regardless of the Google Cover Photo field in Yext.

• Minimum dimensions: 480px x 270px
• Maximum dimensions: 2,120px x 1,192px
