Overview

Search Tracker metrics recognize four different search result types that are commonly shown on search engine results pages. Metrics are also grouped into categories based on how search results are analyzed.

Search Result Types

Knowledge Card: A separate panel with featured information about a search
Local Pack: A panel of local business listings that appears in response to search queries, based on the browser location of the user
Organic Results: Standard blue-link results, not including ads
Ads: Promoted blue-link results that are surfaced at the top of the SERP

Result types are taken into account when calculating Share of Intelligent Search. See Share of Intelligent Search for more on how Share of Intelligent Search metrics are calculated.

Metric Categories

Category	Metrics	Description
Existed	Knowledge Card Existed Local Pack Existed	Indicates whether a particular result type existed in the search results. Use these metrics to see how often a Local Pack or Knowledge Card was returned in a search.
Presence	Ad Presence Local Pack Presence	Represents the percentage of times your location was found in a particular result type, when that result type existed in search results.
Average Position	Average First Match Position Position Average First Local Pack Position Average First Organic Match Position	Indicates the position of the first match of your location on the SERP or within a particular result type.
Share of Search	Share of Search Local Pack Share of Search Organic Share of Search	Calculates a percentage representing the likelihood your location will be clicked on a SERP, based on position and result type.

Ad Matches

Description: The total number of ads matched to the location or one of its competitors.

The Ad Matches and Ad Presence metrics include ads for your locations and competitors. To view data for just your own ads, or to filter to a specific competitor use these metrics with the Competitor dimension and/or filter in Report Builder.

Ad Presence

Description: The percentage of searches in which at least one ad appeared for the location or one of its competitors.

Average First Local Pack Match Position

Description: The average position of the first match in the local pack in the search engine results page if one exists.

Average First Match Position

Description: The average position of the first match in either the local pack or organic results in the search engine results page if one exists.

Average First Organic Match Position

Description: The average position of the first match in the organic results in the search engine results page if one exists.

Description: The average number of results in the local pack when it appears in a search engine results page.

Description: The number of search requests that were successfully analyzed.

Description: The share of search for all matches in the search engine results page. This is an estimate of the percentage of times a user will choose your location from the search results page.

Share of Intelligent Search calculates the likelihood that a search result is clicked based on weighted criteria, including:

The position of the result on the SERP (the result is weighted more the closer it appears to the top)
The result type (knowledge card and local pack results are weighted more than organic results, since they are featured more prominently and therefore more likely to be clicked)
The quantity and types of other results shown

Clicks on ads in search results do not contribute to Share of Intelligent Search.
